On the heels of Figment’s Series-C announcement this week, the Web 3 forward company had made a bold decision to gift all 130 employees a personalized NFT for Christmas. Figment worked with Montreal artist Marius Jivoin to craft unique character based art pieces which represent several departments in the company, each having a unique visual relic.
NFTs have taken the art and collectable world by storm recently, with companies like Nike, Adidas, Sony and luxury brands like Chanel and Givenchy offering NFTs to their clients. NFTs are non-fungible tokens, meaning they are a way to represent something which is unique and can only have one owner. They are minted using blockchain smart contracts such as Etheruem which assigns ownership and are submitted to an immutable public ledger.
Being a remote company, Figment wanted to encourage teamwork and community within departments and still retain something individually unique per employee. Most of our staff use mobile wallets in which they can carry this piece of art around with them. The logistics of getting all our staff information while also keeping it a secret was a fun process, since the art will be dropped into their wallet automatically before Christmas.

Even though Figment is a crypto savvy company not all employees know about NFTs or how to use them, and there is a lot of misinformation about what exactly NFTs are. This gift is an opportunity to educate and help build company culture, plus it’s just cool to have a unique piece of art to show your colleagues. We also have plans to add additional metadata to the art like company milestones or achievements.
